Ask Amy! Mid Summer Check- In and Prepping for Haven

All the excitement of summer and my favorite things of the month!

I'm back with another Ask Amy! post. I feel like I have a lot to talk about this month! It's been an exciting and busy summer so far.  Most of you know that we went on an African Safari trip.  I still owe you the second-week blog post, but the first week is up on the blog, here.  It was an amazing adventure and we are still coming down off our vacation high.  We returned at the end of June and it's been full force summer since then.  With only a month left, I've been trying to cram in as much time with my kids as possible which includes swimming at the pool, Kings Island Amusement Park, and just generally hanging out at home.

Exciting news in my daughter's life, Emma has been riding horses since she was three years old and a horse which she rides frequently at her barn was for sale, so being the crazy parents that we are, we bought her the horse.  His name is Dover.  He is the sweetest thing and she is just over the moon.  Dover will be the perfect horse for her to continue learning on for years to come. Though, we know very little about horse ownership, so wish us luck!

In the meantime…

Random Thoughts…..

Favorite show right now: We just finished the latest season of House of Cards.  Could it get any crazier?  I love that show partly because you never know what's going to happen next.  After wrapping that one up, we've been catching up on Fear of the Walking Dead.

Favorite books I'm reading:  My current reads are The Woman in Cabin 10 by Ruth Ware.  It's a fast-paced thriller about a trip aboard a luxury ship that goes wrong.  It's a great read so far!

What I'm buying:

I love this cute linen and lace top from Generation Love.  It's super comfortable and paired with denim shorts it is stylish and pretty.  Another pretty top that will transition into fall is this green ruffle top.  I love all the ruffles and the fact that it can be paired with both denim or dressed up for a new look.  I also recently purchased these quilted shoes from Steve Madden.  I'm all about comfort and these provide comfort and with a fun vintage vibe! Lastly, this ModCloth flower sweater is a perfect transition item into fall.  You may see this again soon, as I've teamed up with ModCloth for a fashion post later this month.

Going Places?  I am headed to the Haven Conference in Atlanta this week.  I am super excited!  This is my second year of attending and I can't wait to connect with blogging friends I met last year and to meet some new ones.  It's a great opportunity to learn more about the home and DIY blogging genre, try new products in workshops, and meet up with popular brands.  I will update you via Instagram from the conference, so be sure you are following me!

Can't Wait For:

Since I am heading for Haven this month, I thought I'd share some fun items that I will definitely be packing for my trip!

I love this new bag.  It's perfect for carrying pamphlets, my iPad and a whole lot of swag that I hope to get while I'm there!  These Swell water bottles are in the Nordstrom Anniversary sale and I bought a new one (no more sharing with my daughter!) for the conference.  Another thing I cannot forget is a journal to keep notes in.  This pretty one from Rifle Paper Company looks great with my bag and doesn't take up much room.

Did You See That?

I'm a huge fan of Sara from Twelve on Main.  She has such a beautiful farmhouse style.  She is a fellow author of our book, Home for Summer and Home for Fall.  I adore everything about her home.  It's filled with beautiful pieces and DIY project galore.  She recently posted her summer porch and if you haven't seen it, you are seeing it now.  I only wish I lived closer so we could share a cup of coffee together on that porch.  It is definitely swoon-worthy!

Isn't it amazing?!!

What's New?  I am so excited to announce that I now have a free printables library for subscribers!  I finally had the time to compile all the printables I've done and get them in order to give to those in the community who subscribe to my newsletter!  A little extra love for those that follow along each day/ week.  Soooo if you aren't a subscriber, I urge you to get on board.  When you do, you will receive a password to input to receive all the free printable love I have to offer!  I will continue to add to this stash monthly also, so always check back for new ones!!

Here is a brand new one for summer just added to the library today! Print and frame one of these motivational signs for your office!

Another must purchase this summer is our Home for Summer book.  If you haven't purchased yet, it's not too late!  Ideas in this eBook can be used year round.  I love some of the crafts such as these painted wooden utensils and hanging succulent tray, perfect for rainy day projects.  We are now offering a discount of 15% with code SUMMER at checkout.  Here's the link to purchase!

I hope you have a great weekend!

Let me know in the comments if you have any specific questions I can answer for you next time!  Thanks, you all!

To life feeling like home!
