Organize Me: Camera Supply Drawer

Today I'm sharing a quick Organize Me solution for your camera and camera equipment.  If you've been following along for awhile, hopefully, you have noticed that my picture taking skills have improved tremendously from the beginning of the blog!  I treated myself for my birthday last year (do you do that? 🙂 ) to a new camera and it's been fun figuring out all it's features and learning how to use it.  The more I get into blogging and photography, the more equipment I find myself needing and buying.  Up until now, it was all gathered in a drawer, but not organized or easily accessible when I needed it.  Who knew that you needed that wide angle lens or those light filters?  Maybe need is a strong word, but want, oh ya!

I started this quick Organize Me project by gathering all my equipment into one place and dedicating and clearing out a drawer.  I chose a large shallow drawer in my office since that's where all the action happens.  A deep drawer would also work, but I like the way everything looks almost like it's on “display”  with a more shallower one.

So what is included in my camera drawer?

Here is a list of my equipment that I use for every day and blogging projects.

My Camera Equipment

Canon Rebel EOS SL1

Canon  – 50 mm – f/1.8 – Fixed Focal Length Lens

Camera Bag

Tripod

Replacement Battery & Charger Pack

Lens Cleaning Kit

Lens Filter Kit

Additional Equipment

Lighting Kit

Photo Studio Shooting Tent

iPhone Lightweight Tripod and Bag

Tripod Adapter

iPhone 6 Wireless Remote

iPhone Selfie Stick

I started this project using these drawer liners from IKEA to line my drawer.  They are awesome because they have a grid system on the back so it makes it easy to measure and cut out the right size for your drawer.

Once you cut out your mat, flip it over and you are ready to start arranging your equipment.

I purchased these clear drawer dividers for organizing the small items like my lens caps, lens cleaner, remote, chargers, and batteries.

I saved the larger area in the drawer for my tripod, selfie stick, extra lens, and camera.

Isn't it perfect?!

Now it's all in one spot and ready to go when I need it.  I can grab what I want and load into my camera bag or favorite tote (similar)!

XO,

  1. Amy, this is exactly what I need to do to my camera box/ drawer. It is so unorganized and my components are everywhere–it drives me nuts!

This is awesome! I’m pretty organized but this has me beat all to pieces. My camera tends to stay out in a small case within easy reach. I always know where it is though so I guess that’ll have to do. Thanks for sharing at Over the Moon.

I keep everything small in my camera bag. I’d much rather having such a neat drawer where I’d be able to see everything with one look (you know: instead of dig in bag, empty bag > scatter items around till you find the item you were looking for > pack bag again > realize you needed another item too > start over)

    Great idea and execution. 🙂

    I needed this! Thanks, Kathy

A camera drawer is a great idea, especially one that is deep enough for the camera!

Right now I am using a camera backpack on a shelf in my craft room/office. It’s not the prettiest solution, but it’s working for now!
