Thanksgiving Tablescape

Thanksgiving Tablescape by www.whitecottagehomeandliving.com

When I think of Thanksgiving, I have a warm comfortable feeling come over me.  I picture a fire in the fireplace and yummy smelling foods cooking in the kitchen!  I also think of time spent making memories with family and enjoying a meal together.  I think that all of those things would still be in my heart and mind even if we ate our traditional meal on paper plates, but the decorator in me sees any holiday as the perfect time to make something just a little bit more beautiful.  That's like a gift I give to those who come to our home.

We are honored to actually be hosting the big day this year, so I spent some time putting together a tablescape which fits the description above; warm and comfortable.  My style leans towards farmhouse and is comfy, never stuffy.  Add in a little whimsy to suit the children and my Thanksgiving tablescape was born.

My little creatures and squirrel salt and pepper shakers are from Pier One.  The best part about the animals are they are ornaments which can then be transferred over to my Christmas tree next month!

The gorgeous 3 tier dessert tray was a find from one of my favorite stores, Bits of Vintage.

You may remember my tagged white pumpkins from my fall home tour.  They have held up and if they can hang on another week without rotting, then we are good to go!

We are lucky to have a set of french doors from our dining room that leads out to the patio.  This allows so much natural light into the space.  When it's warmer, I open up the doors so people can freely go in and out using both an indoor dining space and an outdoor.  Since it will most likely by cold, we will enjoy the view from inside! 🙂

The bench was an antique find that I painted black.  I love that its low which doesn't block the natural light from the doors.  Also, it is perfect to squeeze little kids into the table.

I picked up the round velvet cloth from Goodwill of all places.  Layered with my cream runner, it adds warmth to the table.

The chalkboard easels were a dollar spot find at Target.  Perfect for place cards or many other things! You have done it again Target!
