I'm excited to be joining some of my favorite bloggers today for a fall home tour hosted by my friend, Meg from Green with Decor.  I hate humidity, so when that first frost happens, I am one happy girl!  Fall is without a doubt my favorite season of the year so I really enjoy decorating for it.  It's such an inspiring time with the changing leaves and bright colors that surround us here in Ohio.  It is gone all too quickly, so I try my best to get ahead of the game in terms of decorating so that I can prolong that autumn feeling for as long as possible!
My house has slowly been changing over to a neutral palette. Â This makes the perfect backdrop for adding in seasonal colors. You'll see muted reds, oranges, and brown touches throughout my spaces. Â I use this as my starting point and add small touches of Halloween in October and then Thanksgiving in November.
Decorating for fall is all about adding cozy touches to your home for those cooler months ahead. Â Throws, pillows, and textures that lend themselves to gathering together in your home and enjoying lazy nights around the fireplace. Â Just like summer, it's easy to decorate with elements from nature like branches, pumpkins, and leaves. Snip some branches or grab some dried leaves for a bowl and you've got all you need to make a fall centerpiece.
One of the things I've used a lot of this season is books.  Books are great for elevating objects on a tray or table and book pages are cute rolled or used in a fall banner or garland.  You can find old books very inexpensively at any thrift store.
Shall we go in and see my fall home?

When you walk in the door, my entryway has a small chalkboard easel which welcomes you. Â My fiddle fig leaf tree is doing so well in this spot that I hate to move it, so it's staying right where it is!
Next, we go into the kitchen. Â My white cabinets are perfect for subtle little fall touches. My 3-tier is a hardworking piece with storage of my mason jars, my silver cup collection, and our fruit. Â Also, my kitchen scale gets in on the fall decor. Â Apple fritters anyone?
My dining room remains neutral with just white pumpkins and my book page pumpkin garland. You can find the tutorial for the garland in our Home for Fall eBook.
In the living room, my mantel is the focal point. Â You can see closer views of everything in this post.
A couple of fun throw pillows on our new couches and this is the coziest spot this fall.

Swooning over your entry – just lovely! I recently purchased a fiddle leaf fig (I even named her and dedicated a blog post to her ha!) and yours is so sweet. I am hoping to have success with mine. So far, so good.
That’s cute, Mindy! I am really hoping it will survive. I love the look of them, but hear they can be a picky plant, so it isn’t moving anywhere while it is doing well. 🙂
