Thank you to Kroger for partnering with me on this post. As always, thoughts and opinions are 100% mine. Thank you for supporting those that make My Life From Home possible! See full disclosure, here.
One of the things I've been working on is flower arranging. This summer I had an opportunity to attend a flower workshop and it was such a fun experience. I love having fresh flowers in my home at all times of the year. Instead of just slapping them into a vase, I really want to learn how to style them in unique and unexpected ways. Today, I'm going to share with you a flower arrangement using red roses, but any flower you choose can be styled in this same manner.
There's something so special about red roses. Do you agree? Red roses are a symbol of many holidays and special events. Ok, and let's get real, they are also well-known because of The Bachelor! Why red roses? Well, they are chosen to represent these events for a reason. They are a beautiful flower, but also, the vibrant red speaks of love and passion. I read also that the quantity of red roses has a meaning. Twenty- Five red roses means Congratulations. One of those special events that I associate with masses of red roses is the Kentucky Derby. Each May, I look forward to seeing the race, but also the beautiful roses amassed on the grounds and the garland across the back of the winning horse.
I just recently learned that all those Kentucky Derby roses are from Rainforest Alliance Certified Farms. Also, guess what? Our very own Kroger Company is the one that has the honor of putting the most recognizable flower arrangement in the world together each year!
Below is a video, which tells the story of those very special roses and master florists. Each bouquet of roses from Kroger has the rainforest certified seal. By purchasing at Kroger, your purchase is supporting one of these farms. As the largest florist in the country, Kroger is the go-to place for bouquets of any kind.
Here are the supplies needed for this flower arrangement.
You know those leafy grasses that die around this time every year? Clip off a bunch and fill your vessel leaving room for your flowers in the middle.
In the middle, fill the vessel half full of water.
Next, remove all the leaves from your stems.
Using a hand bouquet technique that I used in this post, gather your flowers. Place two flowers aside.
Snip off the ends at an angle to allow water into the stems.
Insert the two flowers you put aside into any empty holes you see to complete your arrangement.
I love the completed look. The red and green contrast so beautifully!
