Today I have joined up with some fun gals to bring you a There for the Making: The Zero Dollar Challenge craft project. The goal of this challenge is to create something using what you already own. So, it's all about upcycling and repurposing items in your craft stash. I don't know about you, but I definitely have a lot of items in my stash just waiting to be used!

One of my favorite mediums to work with is book pages. Anytime I come across books whether it be at a thrift store, garage sale, or freebies from friends, I grab them up! I love recycling book pages into pretty crafts. For this challenge, I decided to use one of the books in my stash to create a book page flower. I have seen these pretty wreaths all over Pinterest and decided it was my turn to give it a go. Instead of a wreath, I wanted to make a flower, so I filled in the middle instead of leaving it open.

It's the perfect piece for my new office/ reading room/ craft room space that I am redoing for the One Room Challenge.

Supplies:

Thrifted Book

Tape

Round Piece of Cardboard

Instructions:

1. I started with a piece of cardboard from my recycling bin. Using a paper plate, I traced the plate and cut out the circle in the cardboard.

2. Tearing pages from the book, I began rolling and stapling them. After doing a few this way, I found it easier to just tape them, so I switched to that method for the rest of the pages.

3. To begin assembling the flower, I hot glued one cone at each of the quarter marks on my circle. From there, it was easy to begin glueing and overlapping the cones to make the outer circle.

4. Next, flatten your cones down and assemble a secondary layer slightly lower and closer to the middle.

5. After three layers, I folded my final circle of cones in half and glued them to fill in the middle.

6. Fluff it and hang with a small wire or pop can tab hot glued on the back of your flower.
