I'm excited to be sharing my boutique closet reveal with you today! My master bedroom and bathroom are complete and the final touch to the whole space was to design an organized and stylish space to store my clothes and get ready each morning. When we completed our farmhouse master bedroom, we added the Pax Wardrobe System from IKEA. With the additional clothing storage for my husband, I was able to take over the walk-in closet as my own! Win-win!
I had dreamed of this day coming for a long time. Instead of the cramped shared space with things falling off the shelves, I envisioned a store-like feel where I could step in and “shop” my outfits every day.
My husband didn't really see my vision, but no matter, it happened (I know you gals out there will appreciate it) and I am so excited to share it with you today!
The bones of the closet were good, so nothing had to be changed there. The shelving system wasn't exactly what I would have chosen if I was starting from scratch, but instead, I embraced it and worked with what I had. This makeover was simply done and with very little cost (The best kind, right?)
Goals for the Boutique Closet Reveal
This is where it all started.
The first thing I did was add this fancy chandelier from IKEA. It has all the glam and style of a high-end boutique and right away it transformed the whole space. Next, I added a rug for the floor which I already had in storage and a small fur bench that I updated from its former life. These created a great backdrop for the whole closet space. I had purchased some fun fashion illustrations from Melsy's Illustrations on Etsy and I framed those and hung them as a backdrop to my jewelry display.
Using my shoes, purses, and jewelry as art allowed me to display them out in the open. It really makes me feel like I am shopping my closet every day. I also can see things better and don't forget what I have. Shoe boxes and under bed boxes conceal the less pretty stuff, but still keep things easily accessible. Also, drawers contain some of the jewelry I don't wear everyday and intimate items and pajamas.
I used copper knobs to hang my everyday necklaces and bracelets on. A vintage mug and saucer hold my earrings and rings. A mirror propped up on one of the shelves provides a place for me to put on my jewelry right there in the closet. Clear pants hangers and velvet hangers keep everything looking the same throughout the space.
