I've been known to go a little over the top with my mantel. I love decorating mantels and once I get started, sometimes it's hard to stop. I just keep adding and adding, especially in the fall when there is so much good stuff to work with! This season, I decided to reign myself in and see what I could do with less. I'm really liking the way this one turned out and I hope you will too!
For this mantel, I kept a white mirror and chippy painted window as the backdrop. These items are tall and add height to our two story wall. These pretty pumpkins from Michaels were then added along with two long stems of greenery. A collection of thrift store pewter candlesticks which I got for $1 a piece are grouped together on one end of the mantel. For texture, I added the farmhouse basket. It's simple but pretty! I could have kept going, but decided to keep it calm and neutral this fall. I like how this is setting the stage for the rest of the room.

I just love what you have done here! The greenery you add to the pumpkins really adds that special something. Thanks for sharing!
I noticed lanterns seem to be a big thing this fall. Have you noticed the same thing? Im thinking of doing something similar to this for my mantel.

Hi, Karen! I love those pictures and yes, lanterns do seem to be making a BIG comeback in decor styling. I have a set of black ones that I will need to incorporate somewhere. They do add just the right ambiance for a fall evening when lit up, don’t they?
Very pretty Amy! Love the candlesticks and your pumpkins. Thanks so much for hosting!
So pretty – and definitely serene! I love the color scheme you chose.
I just love your mantel!! We had that same thought process this year – more with less! White and green pumpkins are so perfect every time . 🙂 Thanks for organizing such a fun hop!
I love your mantel decor, and being a part of this mantel series! I too am guilty of going overboard, and even had to limit myself by adding a mirror that doesn’t allow for much on the mantel. That created a whole new set of design challenges, but I have learned to tone it down a bit because of it. Don’t get me wrong though, I enjoy a beautiful billowing mantel, it just doesn’t make sense in my home with the built-ins being right next to it.
Yes! I always have to restrain myself, but I am really enjoying this less is more feeling I have going on over here.
Your mantel looks fantastic, as usual! I like the mix of white and green – very fresh and peaceful for fall! Those pewter candlesticks are awesome, too. Thanks again for coordinating our mantel series!
Thank you, Emily! I am really enjoying this less is more feeling I have going over here!
