I have been seeing these cute felt flowers for a while but haven't attempted them myself. I am thrilled to say that I have given them a try and now I can tell you that they are not difficult to make. Let me show you how I put together this cute DIY felt pillow.
The first thing I did was choose colors that went well with my existing decor. I recently bought this cool bench made from a headboard, so I thought it would be a fun touch to make a handmade pillow to go on the new bench.
I then chose several colors to make flowers out of. I started with a circle about the size of a cd.
Next, you begin cutting in a spiral on your circle until you have just a small circle hole in the middle. You can throw that leftover circle away. Now, begin rolling your long spiral strand into itself tightly and glue the tail with either fabric glue or hot glue.
You'll end up with a beautiful looking flower! So cool, isn't it?
I made several of these in varying colors.
To make the pillow, I cut out two pieces of felt and cut around the edge with pinking shears to give it a fun edge.
After sewing around the edges, I left about an inch and a half opening to use for stuffing the pillow. Finish, by hand stitching it closed.
Now comes the fun part, you decide how you want your flowers to be arranged on your pillow and using fabric glue or hot glue begin glueing them on.
Now that I've made these felt flowers, I can see making them again for other things. They are easy to make and so cute!
What do you think of my new pillow?
