I'm excited to be joining up again today with some blogging friends to discuss home styles. It's been a while since we did this hop, so if you need a refresher, here are the previous two post: My Home Style Blog Hop and My Home Style Blog Hop Christmas Tree Edition.
Today is my turn to share with you what I consider my home style. My style can probably best be summed up in three words…..
Vintage, Cozy, Farmhouse
What do these 3 words mean to me?
Vintage: I enjoy thrifting and antiquing to find previously used pieces to collect and use throughout my home. These pieces are not necessarily true antiques by definition, but may have a story or are meaningful to us for some reason. I find it fun when time allows to scour stores and find those one-of-a-kind pieces. Throughout my home, I have several collections; vintage cameras, white Ironstone dishes, juice glasses and silver cups. Two of my favorite pieces I own are a vintage fan and kitchen scale.
Cozy: Cozy means to me a warm, comfortable, casual feeling. I want my home to be a place where people can relax, get comfortable and hang out. Casual and welcoming. Lots of pillows, warm colors, textures, and blankets help to achieve that feeling. I have three children so there is definitely nothing stuffy or off-limits in my home!
Farmhouse: Think Joanna Gaines! If I could have her come and redo my house I would want everything to be exactly like her show Fixer Upper. Farmhouse style to me is a broad category. I'd love to have an apron sink, a four-poster bed, and a claw foot tub, but those aren't in my home. What I do have is wrought iron fixtures, burlap, painted and chippy furniture, wood floors, baskets, a cup rack, 3- tier serving pieces, a sliding barn door, open shelving, benches and a wood table. All of these are farmhouse style as well.

We have been in our home for 11 years and have slowly within the last year been redoing our spaces. When decorating 10+ years ago, I loved my mustards and reds! I still love those colors, but as accents more than the main focal point of a room. Now my style is much more neutral and pops of color can be added in seasonally.
One of the most dramatic makeovers we did was our kitchen. Last year, I repainted the oak cabinets white and painted over the red walls to a pale cream.
BEFORE
AFTER
By taking off the doors of the upper cabinets and displaying my eclectic white dishes, it continues that light and fresh look we were after. A few more farmhouse accessories like a vintage kitchen scale and 3-tier basket with my silver cup collection and the kitchen is somewhere I now enjoy being!
In our dining room, we had mustard walls, just by simply changing the paint color, we gave the room a whole new look.
BEFORE
AFTER
More recently, we have replaced some of the furnishings in our kitchen nook and our family room, to reflect our style more truly.
BEFORE
We replaced our glass and metal table with this white pedestal table and rustic reclaimed wood chairs. In addition, new pillow covers on the throw pillows in the nook, brought the whole farmhouse look together.
AFTER
BEFORE
In the family room space, we replaced the black coffee table and leather couches. In addition, if you can see the window valances in the corner of the picture, those we removed and instead left the windows bare.
AFTER
I think what I love most about my the vintage, cozy, farmhouse style is that it is so livable for my family. I am a jeans and tees kind of gal and it really suits our comfortable and warm family lifestyle. I have gathered some product resources below that you may be interested in if this style speaks to you. All can be bought through Amazon or Joss & Main.
