I'm back again for another week in the One Room Challenge! This week, I went on vacation! Yep. Not much got accomplished while I was laying around in the sand, but oh how I enjoyed my break!
If you are new to the One Room Challenge, let me give you a quick update on what is going on. Calling it Home hosts a fun event where featured designers have six weeks to make over a room. If you haven't stopped over there to see the designer rooms, you can see them here. You will not be disappointed! There are a lot of inspiring spaces this time around.
I hopped in as Guest Participant and decided to make over my son's bedroom. He turned five in February and one of the things we got him for his birthday was a big boy bed! We have a lot of sports memorabilia that we wanted to use in his room but in a subtle and modern way.
So far, we have finished the walls and started tackling storage with a rustic industrial style bookcase. Click on the links below to catch up on my prior projects and see my progress.
Ok, so I'm not leaving you completely hanging this week! I did do a shopping trip to my local antique mall before I left for vacation and picked up some amazing pieces to use in the room. If you recall, I was really needing to maximize storage in this space. Little boys have lots of little guys and also big sets, so all types of storage are needed to handle the variety of item sizes. Last week, I showed you the striped canvas bins I purchased at Target. These are going to be put to good use, but won't be enough!
I was absolutely thrilled with the pieces that went home with me.
Here they are:
I couldn't resist the log cabin even though it's not storage!! Isn't it absolutely the cutest!
1. Red Antique Tool Box for Lego Storage
2. Antique Metal Bucket for large Action Figures
3. Wire Basket for Books
4. Large Antique Jar for Housing Baseballs
Do you ever get that giddy feeling when you find just the right stuff? If you are a local friend, then you need to hop on over to the Ohio Valley Antique Mall. I did a whole post on this place last summer. Can you get a feel of where I am going with the room? I feel like it's starting to come together!!
Wonderful web journal. I appreciated perusing your articles. This is really an awesome read for me. I have bookmarked it and I am anticipating perusing new articles. Keep doing awesome!

Great room! Where did you find the rod under the shadowbox sweater?
Hi Debby! So glad you like it. That bar was purchased about 5 years ago from either Potterybarn or Land of Nod. I honestly cannot remember which. It may be the only thing that stayed in the whole space. Ha!
A vacation sounds so nice right about now! I really like the baskets and storage bins you found.
