Today's another Silhouette Challenge Day! I've been putting together a gallery wall in my office for, well let's say, maybe a year. Lol. I just can't quite get it where I want it, but I think I'm almost there! I use this large room as a pass through to the dining room, reading room, crafting room and also my office. I decided to use the main wall as a way to display our love of travel. On the shelves, I have my vintage camera collection and on the walls surrounding it are maps from places we've visited. I also recently did a special (just for me!) blog project which I'll share with you soon.
I love quotes and have a bible verse framed and on the shelf. I decided to add one more inspirational quote with a “travel” theme to the wall. I did this on a wood slab and created the stencil with my Silhouette Cameo machine.
Here is the project.
I started with a wood round and painted it with black chalk paint leaving a small bit of wood showing around the edges.
I wrote this quote in my Silhouette template and using a piece of cardstock, cut out the quote. Next, be sure to tape it down so it does not move on you while you are painting.
I used white craft paint and a stencil brush to dab the paint onto the stencil. Make sure not to overload the brush. You don't want any paint seeping under the stencil.
After the stencil dried. I turned over the slab and using leather cording, stapled a hanger on the back.
I hung it from a door knob which gives it a finished look.
Now, I feel like my gallery wall is complete!
I love this project because even if you don't have a Silhouette machine, you can use a store bought stencil to replicate this look.

I have written many words on projects like this one (including my latest one on the blog), but I have never used a silhouette. I don’t have one. In fact, I have seen many other tutorial but never really understood how it worked until I saw this post. I guess I did not understand how the words transferred to the project but now I see how it is cut between the letters. Awesome!
