Hello! Today is my turn for a spring home tour! I'm thrilled to be opening my home and showing you the spring touches I've added throughout. I love changing things in my home for the season. It's a good way to freshen up your decor, organize your surroundings and prepare for the changing weather. If you are new to my blog, welcome!
I love how this spring home tour has showcased a variety of home styles. Today we are looking at Farmhouse style. I would say my style fits best in this category, but honestly, I believe that a home which is eclectically put together is the warmest and most comfortable. For us, this means a mix of styles including farmhouse, vintage, and even industrial.
I'm so glad you are here!
Welcome to my home!
As you enter the home, we have a small entry way. I like to change out the decor on the antique chest each season to create a seasonal display. I use this chest to store my purses which I like to change out frequently.
A picture gallery of the places we've visited lines the staircase. The wrought iron spindles were a DIY project we tackled last summer. The plant stand I recently made using a wood slice and hairpin legs. You can read the tutorial, here.
One of our newer projects was adding these sliding barn doors for our hall pantry. It makes much more of a statement than just typical sliders.
Next on our stop is our family room. This is the most used room of the home! It is open to the second floor, kitchen and eating nook.
I recently packed up my winter mantel and put together a whole new look. The inspiration piece was this Birds Nest wreath that I made. You can see the full tutorial, here.
I added vintage bird prints, layered mirrors, a bird's nest, and candles to complete the mantel scape.
For a more detailed look at each element, you can see a full post tutorial, here.
In the kitchen, I freshened up the space with white accessories and greenery. I did a full makeover in here last fall; repainting all the cabinets myself. You can get a step by step tutorial, here and here.
The Dining area just barely made the tour! We finished painting the upper half of the walls on Tuesday. We went from mustard yellow to the same creamy white used in the kitchen. I think it makes my shelves and dishes pop much better now.
You get the first look!
Looking for more ways to integrate farmhouse style into your home? Here's a post I wrote recently which gives you 10 ideas to achieve that farmhouse look.
