You may have noticed that my style has changed in this new house. I have embraced a wider color palette than in our previous home. I feel like the style of our home guided me to not only add more color but embrace cooler pastel colors in particular. I love how this looked for spring and summer, but was a little challenged at how to make it work for fall. I typically use rich autumn colors in my seasonal displays. Today, I’m going to share our family room with you and show you how pastel colors worked beautifully in creating a fall feel without having to change up our whole room design.
To begin with, you may recognize this gorgeous custom artwork by Jennifer Collander on our mantel, you can read more about it, here (LINK). It was the first piece of our space that really led us to our color palette and established the look we were going for in the room. To remove it for the season in favor of more seasonal colors just didn't feel right, so I decided to go for it and keep the painting on the mantel and work with the colors.
Irving needed in on the action!
I found these gorgeous wool pumpkins at Home Goods which worked really well with the painting. Adding a few on either side was all the mantel needed.
For the rest of the room, I changed out the pillow covers from my gray and white buffalo check to a darker velvet gray. These I purchased at IKEA. I added an Autumn pillow and I also pulled out my furry throw in place of my blush one. Just these subtle changes make a difference in bringing your space into the new season.
My new gallery wall and pink dresser still work with the deep grays, wool pumpkins, and furry throws.
Another addition was this knit pouf. I love the texture it adds to the space and it also feels cozy in the space for fall.
A few pumpkins stacked on the table and in milk glass vases and the room came together with a non- traditional color palette. It was much easier than I thought it would be and I really love the soft soothing feel for the fall season
