Last Wednesday I showed you in our basement reveal our new basement bath. I am very excited about how it turned out, but particularly the sink area. I had an antique table from my grandparents that I was using in our dining room. I loved the table but was really wanting something with drawers that could hold my china, silverware and other items. Here it is as I used it in the dining room.
I also wanted to create something unique in the basement bath to make it feel more customized and not so cookie cutter. The goal was to blend the space with the rest of our home which tends to have touches of old and new throughout. So, my idea was to take the table and have a vessel sink installed. The problem was the height was a little low for a standard vanity, but my carpenter was able to build it up to the proper height by taking the top off and adding wood to bring up the height. With a vessel sink and faucet from Lowes, it was ready to go.
Here it is now.
It does not have any storage capacity as the drawer had to be nailed shut, but there is a linen closet right outside the door of the bath, so that is where I am keeping the towels and other handy bath items. Paired with the more modern sink and mirror, I think it creates a very eclectic look which we love. By doing this, we were able to breathe new life into the table and made it, even more, special to us.
Have you ever tried a project such as this?
[…] I actually bought this dresser to make into a sink vanity for our basement. Due to plumbing issues, we were not able to use it and instead we had to use another piece in our home. You can read about that here. […]
