Welcome Home for Christmas: My Porch

Thank you to Hometalk.com and Country Living.com for hosting a fabulous Home & Garden blog hop!  I am excited to be teaming up with a slew of fellow bloggers to show you some very special Home for Christmas Projects.

If you are new here, welcome!  I am so glad you stopped by.  Today I have a very special project for you!  I've been working on creating a Christmas vignette on my front porch.  With as much time as I have spent inside the house, I have never really done anything to dress up the outside. Unfortunately, we do not have any outdoor electrical outlets, so having lights outside have never been an option.

For this look, I purchased a tree from my local supermarket.   We do a lot of traveling around the holidays, so for inside we always stick to a faux tree.  Having a real tree if even just on the porch, feels like a special treat!  To decorate it, I decked it out with a scarf garland stitched together from 3 scarves purchased at my local Goodwill.   Simple hand stitching would work just as well if you do not have a sewing machine.

Cozy Christmas Porch

A simple galvanized tub stands in as a tree stand.  A vintage sled found at a local antique store gets a swag of greens and a plaid bow to tie in with the plaid scarf garland.

A wooden crate also got a swag of fresh greens.

A few Christmas pillows spruce up my porch chairs.

Instead of a tree topper, I opted for a cheeky sign picked up at Big Lots.

It reminds me of an old-fashioned Christmas.   A warm welcome to greet us each day!  Now all we need is snow!
