It's almost spring, but as I'm writing this it's snowing outside where I am. Ick! I am over the snow and cold and have turned my thoughts to warm weather, birds singing, and sunny days. I recently made a spring wreath to add to my mantel decor.
This wreath is themed, “the bird's nest.”
I started with a wooden birdhouse and painted it with white craft paint.
I purchased a 20 inch grapevine wreath and wrapped it in green ribbon and burlap. The nice thing about this particular wreath is that you don't have to be precise, just weave it in and out as you want. It's supposed to look like a bird has taken nest in there!
Using my hot glue gun, I glued torn book pages, moss, small wood discs, a bird, flowers, the house and a nest.
I had enough left over that I might be able to make a 2nd one with the supplies!
Just use your imagination! You can't get this wrong.
Here are some of the finished pictures. I used burlap ribbon to hang it off of my mirror on the mantel.

I'm thrilled with how it turns out. Now I can feel like spring is happening even when the weather tells me otherwise!
All of the items I used to create this wreath are available at Michaels or Amazon.
[…] I have been looking forward to this post on our spring mantel. With each passing season, I enjoy changing out my mantel.
