Create With Me: DIY Farmhouse Vases

Hello!  I'm happy to be back today with another Create with Me challenge!  This month you voted that we use jars in our projects.  There are so many possibilities when it comes to jars.  One of the more obvious ones is vases.  In this post, I showed you how to chalk paint mason jars and I love those.  Today, I decided to show you a little variation on that project and how to embellish them with a cute farmhouse tag.

To start this project, I looked in my refrigerator for glass jars.  I found two pickle jars which were nearing expiration, so those pickle jars are what I used to make today's project.

Instructions:

1.Clean and dry your jars, remove labels.

2. Using a black paint, paint jars and let dry.

3. Use candle wax or a light wax rub and rub the places on the jar where you want the distress marks.  Some of the best places are around the lip and the bottom of the jars.

4. Paint over the black paint and wax with white paint.  It took two coats to get the look I wanted.

5. After they dry, use sandpaper and distress your jars.  On the areas which had the wax, the paint should come off easily.

To make the cute farmhouse tags, I used black and natural twine, these Pegz Clickable Stamps, and small cardstock tags.  If you've never used these clickable stamps before, they are great!  I love the small size of them and how they click together to stay in place.  I chose the words, GROW and BLOOM for my farmhouse tags.

I grabbed some fresh flowering branches from my yard to make small bouquets for my new vases.

I love the simple and clean look of these which will go with most any decor.
