Thank you to At Home for partnering with me to bring you this inspiration space. As always, thoughts and opinions are 100% mine. Thank you for supporting those that make My Life From Home possible! See full disclosure, here.
If you are just hopping in now, welcome! I have joined Linda from Calling it Home as a guest participant in the bi-annual One Room Challenge. It is now week 4 of 6, so we are getting down to the wire (insert scared emoji). Have you ever gotten into a project and then halfway through decided to start adding things to your list? Well, that's exactly what I did this week. Ugh. Once I get an idea, the problem with ignoring my inner self is that I will constantly be thinking about it until I just go and do it, so I might as well not stress about it and just get it done. This week, I decided on a whim to paint the ceiling. Yep, I have never painted a ceiling so that was a new experience. I was so in love with my painted dresser, that it just seemed like a waste to not use that paint somewhere else! I might say it was the best design decision yet, but I will let you judge for yourself.
Some of the issues that need to be addressed through the challenge:
√1.New Wall Treatment: walls need to be updated to anchor the space
√2.Get rid of the bunk beds and instead, create a “couch” with twin beds.
√3.Find the perfect dresser for the space.
4.Reconfigure closet to create a desk space and storage.
5.New wall art and accessories for the room.
Week 4
I'm going to give you a sneak peek of that ceiling, but first I want to show you some of the amazing pieces I picked up from At Home for the new space. At Home is my go-to spot for anything and everything home. For this space, I was really looking for a chair, an end table, lamp, and accessories to make the room feel warm and comfortable. Plus I wanted to add that modern feel I was going for and pops of color.
I not only found a chair that worked perfectly for creating a reading nook in the corner, but I found an ottoman for in front of the beds that helps complete the lounge area. The colors are bright and modern, pulling all the elements in the room together beautifully.
A couple of throws for curling up on the bed and fun gold accessories happened their way into my cart as well. 🙂
I really want to save most of the space for the full reveal, but here is just a small snippet of the newly painted ceiling.
UPDATE: See the full reveal of this Modern Teen Hangout Bedroom HERE.

Looking good! That gold table is perfection
Thank you, Ariel! I know. That gold is really speaking to me. I may need to incorporate more throughout my home.
You did a great job in painting the ceiling, love the color, did you have to use plastic shield for the sides or did you just cover the floor, last time I painted the ceiling I had to use all this plastic wrap everywhere so I would not splatter the side walls
It was hard. The colors and photographs are gorgeous.
Maria
No, surprisingly, it did not splatter at all. I taped the edges and held my breath, lol
I love the colors in the space! I need to check out our At Home store; the closet one is about 45 mins away, but I know it would be worth it!
Yes, Mary! They have a huge selection. You would love it!
I love the furnishings you chose! That print is just amazing – and those red legs. Yahoo!
