So, if you follow me on Instagram (I hope you do!) (LINK), you may remember a few weeks back when I changed out our gallery wall in our family room. I came across the most beautiful flower painting from Home Goods and it just started a chain reaction! Isn't that what always happens? When we first moved in, I pretty much just slapped up on the wall the same thing I had up in our old home. Not that it looked bad, but as I honed our style within this new house, I realized that it just didn't quite work as well anymore. So, getting that brand new painting was the inspiration for the whole wall. As you'll see, I even worked in an antique painting alongside it which complements it well.
Here is a photo from this winter that shows you the wall BEFORE.
Not awful, but I really love how the new arrangement better fills the space and brings all the colors together of this space.
I started with the largest piece which was the pink flower painting from Home Goods. Laying out the other pieces and tweaking them on the floor helps to get a better idea of how the completed wall will look. I decided the vintage piece with the wood frame should be on its own to one side. The wood gives it weight and counterbalances the other side with the lighter frames. The other three are actually prints and frames from IKEA. I love the muted colors and I mixed up the frames between an antique brass and silver. Metal mixing is something I've been doing a lot in our new home and I like the look of it.
