I am thrilled to be sharing a space which you rarely see on the blog today, my master bedroom. There are many reasons for not showing you this space before, but the largest one is it is in desperate need of any overhaul. The style really doesn't fit with the rest of the house and my furniture, paint, and accessories are tired and not really refreshing. As much time as I spend on our home decorating and DIYing, I have really not done much of anything with my bedroom, so I was thrilled when the opportunity to collaborate with Annie Selke arose. I am a huge fan of their stylish bedding and products. When I think of comfortable quality bedding, Annie Selke comes to mind. I love their fabrics and the attention to detail.
We spend a lot of our lives in our bed, so creating a cozy and beautiful bed is very important!

I really craved some peaceful pretty linens in my space. Even though there were many colorful choices in the Autumn 2016 catalog, I chose to go with white linens. I used white shams, a white duvet cover, and linen shams to create a beautiful bed. My desire was for it to be a relaxing oasis that we can retreat to at the end of the day. We definitely have a long way to go to achieve that feeling in the space, but even a little refreshing and redecorating can brighten up the mood and make it a happier place to be.
Want a beautiful bed? Here are some tips to creating that pretty well- made bed.
1. Layered Bedding~
Start with the best sheets you can afford, then layer a blanket, a duvet, and then a quilt or coverlet on top. The striped blanket I used below can be folded at the bottom of the bed or layered on top of the duvet. It gives the bed a stylish and finished look and adds texture.
2. Pillows~
Lots of pillows are essential in making a beautiful bed. Since we have a king sized bed, I started with 5 pillows (3 along the back of the bed, 2 on top of those), then followed up with 2 white shams and 2 linen shams. In the center, a small white decorative pillow completes the look.
3. Add Texture~
Ruffles and embroidery add texture to the overall look. All white bedding can be anything but boring when you combine different elements.
4. Mix and Match~
Don't be afraid to mix and match your sheets. I used patterned sheets and incorporated white pillowcases with a small embroidery detail. Completing the look was a combination of white and linen shams along with a striped blanket. You could also do solid sheets and a patterned duvet for another stylish look.
5. Make it!
It's not nearly as pretty when your pillows are on the floor and not on the bed. Just do it! Make that bed and it will help you have a more positive experience as you get ready for bed each night. In addition, it helps you start your day with good habits.

Isn't it gorgeous?
I'm excited about this little refresh. It's just enough to pull us through before we do a major rehaul of the space.
