In addition to Christmas, my daughter has a birthday on Dec. 27. A double whammy when it comes to prepping for the month's activities! For her school treat this Friday, she picked out snowman cookie pops. We had seen these on Pinterest and thought they would be fun to try. Since they are on sticks, also easy to eat and the delivery to school isn't as difficult as cupcakes. Here is the lowdown on how we made them.
First we had to break apart the cookies and put the tops aside.
This was not as easy as expected, as a whole bunch broke. I'll have to come up with another recipe to use all the broken bits!
Next, you need to firmly secure the sticks down into the center, pushing them down enough but not too much to break the cookie.
Attach their top lids back on and squeeze gently together.
In a dish, melt a bag of white chocolate melting wafers in the microwave at 30 second intervals. Stirring in between until fully melted.
Now your cookie pops are ready to be dipped.
Gently dip both sides of the cookie in the chocolate. and set aside on parchment or wax paper to set up.
Decorate a snowman face. We used mini chocolate chips and a candy corn for the nose.
You can cut off the excess chocolate drippings once they are set up. They will harden up in about 15 minutes and then they are ready to go!
I will say this was not as easy as expected. Numerous cookies broke but the end result is a cute and very yummy treat. If you have an idea for all of the Oreo bits, give me a shout!
