It's a Create and Share Monthly Challenge day!
For this month's challenge, bloggers were asked to use the same item to create something unique. This month's item was a lamp kit. Using a lamp kit, I decided to make a small lamp for my kitchen counter. I love the look of a little light glowing in my dark kitchen when I'm strolling through doing my nightly routine. Since I am obsessed with coffee, I thought a coffee pot lamp would be perfect.
DIY Coffee Pot Lamp
When this idea came to me, I immediately started the “hunt” for a thrifted coffee pot. I was thrilled when I saw this pot with the removable bottom.
My first step in turning this pot into a lamp was to unscrew the bottom and put it aside.
Once you get it open, this will be what it looks like inside. I wanted to be able to run my cord through the hole on the side, so the next step was to detach the screws on the tab and discard.
The screws were corroded, so it took some muscle power to get the them off and clean up the tab.
Once I got the screws out, I folded the tab flush to create a larger area for my cord to feed through.
I then wrapped my cord tightly in the recess of the black part of the pot, fed my cord through the opening, and reattached the bottom with the screw given.
Next, I hooked up my Canning Jar Lamp Kit and set it down in my pot. The reason I chose this kit was because it fit down in the bottom of the pot perfectly and the cap was flush to the top. My coffee pot was missing its lid. If I had found a pot with a lid included, I could have used a regular lamp kit and feed the fixture through the lid. Even if you don't create a coffee pot lamp, the mason jar light would be adorable for the kitchen on its own.
I used this clip on shade by Cleveland Vintage Lighting (similar) and an Edison Bulb to complete the lamp with an industrial look.
Here is what it looks like at night when it is turned on.
