DIY Thanksgiving Thankful Tree

I loved the look of our Halloween Tree that I recently put together for our foyer console, you may remember seeing it here. When I took it down, the space looked so bare!  I often tend to overlook Thanksgiving in favor of Christmas holiday decor, but this season, I decided that we need to embrace this time of year and not rush it along (can we say Christmas in July!)  Life is way too rushed and this year, I am striving to enjoy and embrace each holiday and season as they come.  Autumn will soon be gone and winter will be upon us before we know it, so with that in mind, I decided to come up with something similar to my Halloween tree to use for the interim time before Christmas.  I was feeling very lucky when I came across this image of a Thankful Tree on www.decorchick.com: AND another one from www.simplyvintagegirl.com I loved how both of these turned out and most of all, I love the concept of visually giving thanks for the many, many blessings I've been given.  And for each and every one of us living and breathing, that list is unending.  God has been so good to us and we often forget to give thanks to the one who gave us all we have. The wooden discs were so perfect and can be purchased ready to go through ABushelandAPick shop on Etsy. These little tags are going to be used in a thousand ways around my house especially as gift tags, labels for baskets, or napkin rings as place cards.
To put together your own Thanksgiving Thankful tree:

*Any vase or container you choose

*Twigs from your back yard.  Make sure to choose ones that have little shoots off of them to hang your tags on

*Wooden chalkboard tags or cut paper leaves or paper tags

*Chalkboard pen or good old chalk

*Any other fall ornaments you wish to hang:  These I purchased through JoAnn Fabrics and was able to use them for my Halloween tree as well (love when that happens!)  (They are an in store only item.)

*Thankful Heart! ♥

Other great ideas would be to hand each person a wooden disc or paper tag when they arrive for Thanksgiving dinner and have them write something they are thankful for and add to a community tree. This could easily be a centerpiece for your dining room table.

It is a great reminder each time we walk by, that even when things are not going perfectly in our world, we need to recognize how truly blessed we really are.
