I’ve been holding my breath and waiting for this day! And today’s the day! We closed on our new house last week and I’m finally able to share some pictures with you! If you follow me on Instagram, you may have caught my Insta Stories where I showed you a kitchen before and after. Yes, we are crazy…. the day after closing, the kitchen was gutted. We move fast around here! Having lived through several renovations, I decided if we are going to do it, I want it done right away and get that dust out of there before I move in my furniture. I’ll be sharing soon all the plans and pictures of our kitchen renovation. It’s going to be a fun one!
We have until November 20th to be completely out of our home so you’ll find me emptying room by room and hauling it over before the movers come for the furniture.
Shall we take a peek at our new home?
The home was built in the 1960’s and added onto at some point. It’s a sprawling ranch with a wing of bed rooms on one end of the house. The house is in a U shape with all of the rooms in the back facing the courtyard and pool. Yes, we have a pool!! While my kids are thrilled about that, I’m not so sure! Pool advice, anyone?)
The bones of the house are great. We are going to freshen up the paint and work on a new kitchen. Bathrooms will need a little work, but we will work through those in the future.
Off a small foyer is my favorite room of the house, the library. One wall has built in bookcases. Another wall a fireplace and a third wall is all doors leading to the patio.
Next to the library is a large dining room with a bay window view of the pool and another fireplace.
I just love the old floors!
Here is the before shot of the kitchen.
It will be completely different soon!
Open to the kitchen is a large vaulted family room.
On the other side of the house is the powder room, four bedrooms, and the bathrooms. My son has an attached bath and the girls will share a jack and Jill.
Our Master Bedroom may be one of the largest bedrooms I’ve ever seen with its own foyer, bathroom and closet. Way more than I ever need!! One wall is bookcases and there is a fireplace and doors out to the pool. It’s funny because we literally just got rid of all our bedroom furniture for our recent bedroom/ bathroom remodel. Good excuse to get some new things!!
It’s going to take a little work but I’m excited about the extra space and the location is perfect!
I’ll share soon about paint colors we chose and kitchen design plans!
To life feeling like home!
XO,
[…] Welcome to 2019! I took some time off with my family over the holidays to regroup and spend time together. It was a quick two weeks and now the kids are back to school and I am settling back into my daily routine. I can’t believe how this year just flew by! It was a busy one over here with tons of house projects in our new home. We have officially been here one year now and it really feels like home. I’m thrilled with all we have accomplished in such a short time and can’t wait to get started knocking off a few more to-dos from the list. If you are interested in seeing where this house started, you can visit this post, First Look, New House. […]
This is an amazing house
Omg, what a beautiful house. It’s absolutely stunning, I love every corner of it. You surely made a great choice.

What a great home, Amy! You guys are going to make this home incredible! Good luck with moving everything over to the new house. Love that pool ?
I love the exterior (and interior!) of your home! I grew up in a white brick house, so they’ll always hold a special place in my heart 🙂 I am quite envious of your library! What an awesome space it’ll be to sneak away to! And I totally see what you were saying about that glazing technique on the kitchen cabinets… can’t wait to see you work your magic here 😉
Oh wow, it is gorgeous. Can’t wait to see what you do to transform it to fit you.
We have a ranch and I love it! Your master is sooooo huge…I can’t wait to see what you do to this house! Our house also came with a pool and we pretty much googled about it and after the fist couple of years, we got the hang of it. Other than opening and closing it, which is a lot of work, the upkeep during the summer is not too bad with the chemicals and cleaning it. We found one of those robot things (like a roomba) on craigs list this summer and it is a LIFE CHANGER. It saves so much time with manual cleaning!
Looks amazing Amy!!!
