My mantel is one of my favorite things in my home to decorate. Our fireplace is centrally located in the family room and visible from the kitchen so it is a focal point in our home. I like to change it out seasonally and make small updates for the holidays. As I am prepping to change it out for spring soon, I thought it would be fun to take a look back at our mantel decor over the last couple of years. Not only have my mantels changed, but my photography has as well, so please give me some grace on the dark and grainy photographs. 🙂
I’m always interested to see if other people change out their mantels each season or if they keep them the same. What about you? If you don’t, why not? There are tons of inspiring ideas over on Pinterest. You no longer have an excuse!
Here are my mantel decor from the last few seasons. You’ll see that I keep a lot of the same elements each season as the base, but change out wreaths and other small decor items to freshen it up.

Winter 2016
I used simple pinecones, a white wreath, and touches of mercury glass to create last year’s winter mantel.
Winter 2017
This mantel was all about simplicity and neutral decor. Using greenery and rustic elements to give it a serene, calm look and feeling.
Spring/ Summer mantel 2015
I like how this one is not balanced. It gives it a unique look and feel by using a large basket of flowers on one side and the small lanterns on the other. This is a tip for you. It doesn’t have to be perfectly balanced to create a look you’ll enjoy.
Easter Mantel 2016
I updated last year’s mantel with a new bird’s nest wreath that I made. You can get the full tutorial HERE.
Fall Mantel 2016
I went with a book theme for the fall mantel and added stacks of books and rolled book pages.
Halloween Mantel 2015
Crows, and pumpkins added a Halloween touch to my fall mantel. I love how the crow is perched on the top of the mirror.
Halloween Mantel 2016
This year, I went all out and used a spider webbing with spiders and crows to give it a spooky effect.
Thanksgiving 2015
For Thanksgiving, I added a BE Thankful banner made from burlap triangles. You can see how I made this banner HERE.
Thanksgiving 2016
I used the same burlap banner it but changed added velvet pumpkins, a tobacco basket, and a glass jar of pinecones.
Christmas Mantel 2015
My Christmas mantel featured a velvet ribbon holding a berry wreath, a lighted garland and fun nutcrackers.
Christmas Mantel 2016
Not a huge change from the year before, I just removed the lanterns and added a reindeer and a glass jar of pinecones.

Thanks for sharing your mantel decor through the seasons. I always love these kinds of posts as they give me a lot of inspiration as I change up my decor from season to season. My favourite is the 2016 thanksgiving mantel – so pretty. (I am also in love with those mirrors!)
Thank you, Jelica! That was one of my favorites also. I’m so glad you found inspiration from this post! 🙂
My favorite is the white mirrors with the pretty silver candle holders, the two contrasting elements look great together. Wood and Metal.
