Today I'm sharing my first fall mantel of the season.  Each year I strive to try something different to inspire you and this year was no exception.  I have added a ton more blue to my decor in the last year so it seemed only natural to add a bit to my fall decor as well!  You can design fall decor with non traditional colors and still get that warm and cozy feel!

Our dining room has undergone some design changes and though we use this space every day, I'm striving to make it a bit more formal than it was before.  You can see this post of my Summer Dining Room (LINK) for some of the changes we've made recently.

To start this fall makeover, I kept the gold mirror, stacked books, vase, horse art and candlesticks. So the base for this mantel was already in place.  No need to reinvent the wheel every time you change your decor!

I added fresh cut lime light hydrangeas from my yard to the vase for color and texture.  I also added a small white pumpkin in one of my blue and white planters.  It fit perfectly right on the top!  The last addition was the sheaf of wheat bundle which is something I picked up at a thrift store for $6 after the season last year.  That is certainly one of my thrifting tips; definitely look for out of season items year round while you shop.  People will donate items particularly after using them for a holiday of season.
