Thank you to At Home for partnering with me to bring you an outdoor inspiration space. As always, thoughts and opinions are 100% mine. Thank you for supporting those that make My Life From Home possible! See full disclosure, here.
I feel like summer will never be here! In Ohio, the weather has been so rainy and cold that summer feels like a mirage. I have given into the cooler weather though and started planting our flowers and freshening up our outdoor spaces anyway. I figured enough was enough and even if we had to wear coats outside, we were going to start entertaining and just pretend it was warm! I'm excited to show you what I've done to create a practical, cozy space for us to enjoy this summer!
Our backyard space has great bones. I should have taken some pictures for you, but let me tell you it was a sad little place when we moved in and we've gradually been working on checking off projects from our wish list. We installed the patio and pergola 3 years ago. Our desire was to have a place to dine and entertain friends, have a fire in the fire pit and roast marshmallows as a family in the evenings. We've enjoyed this space but what it was missing was the little extras that make a space feel homey and comfortable.
If you haven't been to At Home, then you need to go! I am excited to share that I am a new Brand Ambassador for At Home and I couldn't be happier about it! At Home is a Home Decor Superstore with every department you can think of- art, decor, lamps, vases, furniture, textiles, housewares, patio and garden, rugs and seasonal items. Put home decor and superstore into the same sentence and I am a happy girl! I've shopped there for a while now and I am excited to represent their brand and show you the wonderful products that they carry. This is the first (second if you saw this post) of many At Home posts I will be doing, so hop on over and check out the wonderful selection for yourself! At Home has a huge outdoor living selection including styles and affordable every day low prices for everyone. Everything is arranged by color which is super convenient when you have in mind what you want. I love that I can make one trip and get everything I was hoping for (and more!).
For this refresh, my couch needed some throw pillows, so I was able to pick up these gorgeous, watercolor, bird and geometric print pillows. They are the perfect accent with the orange couch and work beautifully with both the sitting area and the dining space. It's the perfect pop of color to make this space feel more comfortable.
Shade is important as well when you are planning your outdoor entertaining area. Our pergola offers some shade, but the area by the fire pit was often very uncomfortable in the hot sun. An umbrella was the perfect solution and can be used only when needed.
Ready to take a look?
I love the simplicity of this concrete planter above. It's perfect paired with the bright green lantern for outdoor lighting when needed.
Let's talk about the dining area! This is the heart of the entertaining space. When we redid the space, we added the french doors from the dining room down to the patio and pergola. It was a good decision as it is an easy walk from the kitchen down to the outdoor eating space. One of the things I didn't have was chair pads. What a difference adding some color and cushion can make to enjoying the space! At Home has an array of colors and styles to choose which made it easy to pair up with my existing chairs. They fit perfectly and I couldn't be happier with the now softer seat!
When I saw these chargers, I had to have them! Not only will they work beautifully outside, but I can take these inside and use them as well. They are plastic but have the look of tin metal which I love!

Hi Amy, I love how you updated the space. Everything looks so pretty. I love the neutral look of the space. At first I thought the chargers were metal – looks real. I could not agree more that AtHome Store is the place to shop for decor. I have been constantly visiting for over a year now. I am a new reader here and your AHS ambassador in partner!!
Thank you, Zan! I look forward to connecting with others on the At Home team. So fun! 🙂
What a fun space! Those pillows are gorgeous, and I love the chargers, too. Galvanized steel is huge right now and those could look good under all sorts of plates.
Thank you, Leslie! I can definitely see using them a lot.
This is gorgeous!

Thank you Brooke! 🙂 I’m so happy with how it turned out. Now if the weather would just cooperate.
So when’s the first grill-out and marshmallow roast of the season? I’ll mark my calendar! 😉 Amy, your patio space looks amazing! Love those colorful pillows and that concrete planter is so cool! I’m making a plan to go check out our local At Home this weekend – our patio and deck could use some love for the summer! And congrats on your Brand Ambassadorship – how exciting!
Thanks Emily! Yes, I plan to have some cookouts in this new space. You’ll be invited. 🙂
Wow, Amy, the patio looks amazing! I am ready for it to warm up in my corner of Ohio too! 🙂
Thank you Kimm! Let’s just say I had a very small window to get that all put together. We didn’t enjoy it for long, but I do plan to get out there again this weekend! 🙂
