A Shabby Chic white mantel dressed in layers of frames creates a beautiful, peaceful look for a bedroom.
Hello! I am beginning to think the title of my blog should be “My Life From….” Home Depot, Target, basketball, horse, lol. I feel like I haven't been really “home” much. One of my hopes this year is to spend more time relaxing and enjoying our new home. It has really been a whirlwind since we decided to move. It all happened so fast and I feel like I'm still coming down from the high. As soon as this kitchen reno is finished, I'm going to take a break and read a book!
One of my favorite places to do just that was our Farmhouse Master Bedroom we created in our last house. It was the perfect place to retreat from the world and take a break. Let's be honest, we all need that place, right? In this home, we are blessed to have this gigantic master suite which has a fireplace! What a bonus! There's something so calm about watching a fire while curled up in a cozy blanket. It just screams relaxation!
With a fireplace comes a mantel and you know how I love my mantels. This one was especially fun to decorate since I knew it would be probably be staying put for a while. I may switch it out eventually when I grow tired of it, but I am going to leave the seasonal changes for the other mantels in our home.
I embraced all the dreamy whites with distressed frames and a shabby chic white mirror. Layering them upon each other created a beautiful balance and a romantic look for our bedroom space.

One little white bloom is all it needs to add just a touch of romantic charm. Can you see the chandelier peeking in the mirror? This beautiful Bouchette Traditional 6-Light Chandelier from Lark Manor is a new favorite piece we added to our space. Lighting is like icing on the cake for a room.
Our Back to Basics team hosted by 2 Bees in a Pod and The Crowned Goat are joining up today to share all about our mantels and how we go about decorating them. This can sometimes be overwhelming. Here are the steps I always use when I'm starting a mantel project.
How to Decorate a Mantel in 4 Easy Steps
Take it all off. Always start with a clean slate. It allows you to think through your plan without the clutter or distraction.
Find a key piece. A key piece anchors your display and makes it easier to decorate around. For my mantel above it was the mirror. It could be a piece of artwork, mirror, large vase, or old window.
Chose a theme or color palette. Once you have your key piece, you can choose to coordinate a theme or a color palette. The Shabby Chic White Mantel is both; all white and frames. I would stick with 1 or 2 accent colors and include something with texture and/ or shine. Vases, plants, books, candlesticks, and art all work well for a mantel.
Symmetrical or Asymmetrical? Do you want it to balance symmetrically? If so match items of the same height on either side of your key piece. I layered frames of similar sizes and kept the height the same on both sides of my mirror. Asymmetrical mantels are also fun. By putting your key piece to one side, you can vary the height of your other objects to achieve this look.
I adore decorating mantels and even did a post called, Mantels Around the Year. You can check it out for tons of inspiration.

I’ve always wanted to try this layered empty frames look. You pulled it off beautifully! And I agree with Vicki and Jenn – I know it’s wrong to be jealous, but having a fireplace in our bedroom would be a dream!
Your fireplace is so pretty. I bet you’ve had plenty to use it recently. Nothing like coming home and see little puffs of smoke passing over your roof. I also love your other mantel post. The flowers from your garden are so beautiful, but I’ve always loved tea roses myself.
I have been talking about how much I love the simplicity after all of the Christmas decor is put away and your mantel embraces that! I love all the white and how simple it is! Perfect for winter and after all the “stuff” around the holidays! So pretty!
This mantel is gorgeous and perfectly layered, Amy. I’m so excited that you get to have a fireplace in your bedroom – that is so cool! I know you’re working hard to settle into your new place and I can’t wait to follow along on your progress. Hugs, CoCo
