Thrift Store Throwdown: Meet Salvage Sister and Mister

Today is such a fun post!  One of the neat things about being a blogger is the connections you make with other bloggers.  It's fun to collaborate, share ideas, and participate in challenges together.  I've met so many wonderful women this way.  Participating in these events have pushed me to the limits of creativity which have been good for me in so many ways.  There's nothing like a good challenge to get your creative juices flowing.  Do you agree? 🙂

Well, today's challenge is unique in that we really need to use our imagination…….  It's called the Thrift Store Throwdown!

For this challenge, each blogger was sent a box of thrift store goodies from another blogger and challenged to make something new from those items.  Isn't that fun?!  I participated in another similar challenge to this around Christmas time and I loved how it turned out.  Such great ideas all around.

I received my box a few weeks ago and here is what it contained.

Thrift Store Throwdown items by www.whitecottagehomeandliving.com

The included items were a duck box, a wooden challis, sewing kit of ribbons, postcard, paddle, clipboard, fabric remnant, and an embroidery hoop.

Any ideas, friends?

I am not required to use everything, but will try my hardest to use as many items as I can.

Like I said in the beginning, I've enjoyed getting to know new bloggers through these challenges.  It's  astounding what great material and resources are out there in the form of blogs.  My thrift store box came from one of those amazing blogs I was introduced to, Salvage Sister & Mister.  Deborah and her husband blog together and are awesome at using what they have to create some unique things.

You really need to explore their posts to see in full all of the great projects, but here are two of my favorite.

1. Brass Ceiling Fan Makeover

2. Salvaged Wood Projects

And in Deb's words:

Our mission is to live a life of “salvaging” aka using ALL that we have been given.  We share our experiences here and……….

Our hope is to assist others in salvaging their time, money, and resources for their best life.

Their site includes food, home decorating/DIY, finances, upcycle, life, and much more, all making the most with what you have.

Follow along with Salvage Sister & Mister at Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Pinterest.

Ok, so your prep work is to check out all the other thrift store boxes that were sent and come back on the 25th to see the cool projects that we come up with!  In the meantime, if you've got ideas for that duck, let me know! 🙂
