As things often do, one thing led to another when it came to redecorating our home. As the bathroom remodel was happening, I began itching to change some other things in my home. I know I'm not the only one that happens to right? Just like, I really needed one more project, ha! I will definitely fill you in on those details and the spaces in the coming weeks/ months, but for now, I thought I'd give you a quick peek at a new cabinet I purchased for my family room area. We have this corner between the two couches in our main tv room that has cried out for some styling. I had a little antique table there, but it was kind of getting lost in the space, plus I needed it for another room, so it was time to look for something else. On one of my many trips over to IKEA for the bathroom stuff, I saw this black sideboard that I fell in love with. It has lots of room for storage and the height and style was a perfect fit for our corner. It kind of went home with me that day and I'm loving how it fills up that corner and gives me the chance to display some fun vignettes on top.
We also have a black tv cabinet/ stand in this space, so it draws your eye around the room to the other black piece in the corner, so I think it works nicely.
Here is how it looks in my room.
This sweet Laura Ingalls Wilder quote on the wall was made by James and Alice. Along with it on the wall above the couch is a botanical print, a large wall clock, and another quote, “This is my happy place” (similar). The glass bottles are a mix of old and new; a gallon jug, a decanter, a honey jar, and several old bottles from an antique store. The typewriter is a fun replica I purchased at Home Goods years ago and the candlestick lamp is from Target.
You may also have noticed that I changed out the knobs for these crystal ones found at Target. That's a quick tip for you to personalize a piece and add some interest. Hobby Lobby carries a huge selection of amazing knobs along with Anthropologie and Target.
It looks awesome with the buffalo check pillows and blankets! Thanks for sharing at the Monday Funday Party! – Emily
Your family room is lovely and the hutch is perfect in that space. Thank you for sharing at Dishing it and Digging it link party. We love having you.
This is such a great look, and that old typewriter . . .
Love your side board and the color. I have an old typewriter just like that one.
Thanks for sharing at Over The Moon Party.
Hugs,
Bev
The cabinet looks great in that space! I love the antique typewriter on top too! Thanks for linking up at Merry Monday!
Thank you, Kimberly! That typewriter is one of my favorite things to decorate with!
I don’t think I’ve ever seen that piece at Ikea before, and I would have never guessed where it was from had you not mentioned it. (And of course, the glass knobs are a great change!)
Thank you, Nicole!
It looks great, such great find at Ikea. I love that sore but it is like over an hour away. I need to make a trip over there.
It would be worth your drive, Christine! Just make sure to bring a big vehicle. 🙂
Beautiful find! I am taking a trip to IKEA in a few weeks. They have so many great things!
Great find! I love having counter tops to show off my home decor. This would be a great space to add seasonal home decor as well.
Yes! I feel like I can never have enough areas to create displays!
