I've been working on updating and rearranging my library space. It's a long and narrow room with bookcases at one end, a fireplace, and large sliding doors to the courtyard. It also has two doorways which make it tricky to design around. I have probably moved this room around more than any other room in my house just trying to come up with the best seating arrangement. This is also the space my desk is in and I enjoy reading and doing puzzles. I want to make it a beautiful space because it's right off the foyer, but I also want it to function for our every day lives.
Another eye sore in the room has been the mantel and bookcases. They both were in dire need of a fresh coat of paint. The white on them has yellowed over time. So before I began tackling the room arrangement, I decided to start with the long overdue painting. I decided to tackle them one at a time so it wasn't as overwhelming and I didn't have to unload all the books all at once. This week has been all about painting and more painting. Stay tuned for the reveal next week!
Up first is: Cjswank_newyork (LINK) I love her use of books in her decor. Look at her perfectly layered table and secretary stuffed with books in the background, below.
Next, another local Cincinnati Blogger that I've been following for awhile! Nineandsixteen (LINK) is a perfect pattern mixer. Look at the lampshade, tablecloth, pillows; such a great combination.
