Over the last 25 years, I think I've had every shade of blonde that I possibly could have! I have been coloring my hair longer than I can remember sometimes out of a box and other times at a salon. I can't stand letting my hair colour go, so it's vitally important for me that I take good care of it in between hair salon visits. Especially since I do dry it out with coloring, blow-drying, and curling it!
I have always been a big fan of John Frieda hair care products. I absolutely love the Frizz-Ease line. I was thrilled at the opportunity to try out their new colour care system; Sheer Blonde® Go Lightening Shampoo and Conditioner and Sheer Blonde® Go Blonder In-Shower Lightening Treatment. I have finally settled on a blonde shade that I like, so I am always looking at a way to keep it vibrant, save money on expensive salon trips and gain back some time in my busy schedule. Also, being a busy mom often makes it almost impossible to get to the salon. If I have to cancel my appointment or can't get in, forget about it! I will have to hide in the house or wear a hat to go anywhere! Can you relate?
I found all the products at Walgreens. Walgreens is always my go-to shopping spot. I love the selection and how easy you can navigate throughout the store. The Sheer Blonde Go Blonder products are located in the hair care aisle.
I was super excited to get the products home and literally stripped down and showered as soon as I walked in the door! My hair was definitely on the fringe of dirty dishwater blonde, so it was the perfect time to give it a shot.
The Go Blonder In-Shower treatment is a new product. It is ideal to soften dark roots and boost your blonde by 1 shade. I love that it is safe for natural, colour- treated, and for use on highlights and lowlights. Who doesn't need a boost once in a while?
The shampoo and conditioner can both be used as part of the regiment to gradually lighten your hair for a more sun- kissed blonde. Can I say soft hair?! I knew immediately when I put the conditioner on that I was going to love it. My hair felt super soft even after rinsing. It's nice to have a product that performs without the harsh effects of traditional hair colour.
Since I hopped in the shower, I thought it might be a great time to tell you how I've perfected the perfect in home blowout. Are you ready? It's super easy as long as you are a weight lifter or are willing to build up your biceps. The key is to hold your hair dryer above your head and direct the hair going down from roots to ends. So depending on the thickness of your hair, you could end up looking like Hulk. 🙂 Who needs the gym!?
1.Start with freshly washed hair. Comb through.
2. Clip top layer of hair up and aim dryer going down the hair shaft from root to ends.
3. Work your way all the way around your head and then begin with the top layer and do the same thing.
4. Enjoy your sleek new do!
Other tips: I like to use a nozzle attachment on my hair dryer which directs the air exactly where I want it to go. Section by section brush straight down slowly letting the air dry it as you move down the section. It is definitely an arm building exercise, but the result is worth it! I also blow dry my bangs first and then clip them off to the side while I do the rest of the blow drying.
Check out that blonde! I'm loving it.
