I haven't done a ton of painted furniture projects lately, instead, I have been looking for antique pieces in original wood. With that said, I came across this piece at a thrift store recently and was lucky enough to see the lady unloading it when I arrived. Since I wanted to purchase it, I asked her the history of it. She said it was her grandmothers and thus over a hundred years old!

Originally, the thought I had was to strip it, but it had too much damage to salvage, so I decided to paint it instead. I have never used Fusion Mineral paints but always heard good things so I decided to give it a try. I picked out a pretty green color called Bayberry (LINK).
I have to say, I think I'm hooked! It was super easy to use! It has a distinctive matte & smooth finish, similar to milk paint, with the added bonus of no mixing, no priming and, no top coat required. It had great coverage and with one coat and a few small touchups, the outside of the cabinet was painted.
For the interior, I chose a linen white paint by Rust-oleum (LINK). I'm really thrilled with how the white interior pops against the green exterior.
I originally planned on bringing this piece into my booth (LINK), but for now, I love it too much to sell! Instead, I found a corner for it in our family room! I styled it with books and knick knacks I had around the house and its the perfect piece!
This corner has always felt a little undone, so I'm happy to report that this new painted piece is exactly what this corner needed!
