I went to the coolest thing last night and I can't wait to share it with you all!
A clothing SWAP!
Have you heard of this? It's a party where you swap clothes you no longer want and walk away with new things you DO want! Cool concept, huh??
My new friend, Jen, started these swaps locally and I have been lucky enough to go to three so far. She hosts them in her home; two for fall and two for spring.
The way it works is you receive an invitation to the swap. She caps it out at 30 people each party because that's about all her home can handle! You drop off your in style, in season, no longer fit or want clothing to her ahead of time and she sorts, organizes and styles the clothes to be swapped ahead of time.
Night of, she greets you at the door, collects a small fee and gives you a card with your name and the amount of items you brought. (That is a number of items you can walk home with!)
She gives you some time to browse the racks, tables etc. and scope out what you may be interested in getting.
Here are some photos of the setup and racks:
She has everything neatly organized. There was everything from clothing to shoes, jewelry, and purses.
After a short time of browsing, the fun begins. She has a bowl of numbers and you draw a number. There are 5 rounds where you get a new number each round. When your number is called, you get your turn to go and pick out one item to put in your bag. After five rounds, it is then a free for all to finish out the number of items you need.
Here are a few friends showing off their “treasures.”
Anything left over after the swap, she donates to a local charity! I mean how cool is that?!
It's a great time and a good way to clean out your closet and recycle those clothes you no longer wear. I always come away with a few unexpected items that I didn't even know I needed!
Here is Jen's website. In addition to these swaps, she is a brilliant artist and photographer. Check her out!
Here is what I took home:

Love them! I am blessed to be Jen’s neighbor, so I have been to all of her recent swaps. I was reluctant at first, but now I am hooked! A great way to be frugal and fashionable. It is also great to meet new friends and see some that you haven’t seen in awhile.
