Elegant Blue Dining Room Reveal

I couldn't be more excited today to share with you my new dining room refresh!  I gave you a sneak peek of it with last week's Thanksgiving table setting (LINK), but wanted to get you all the details in one post of this new updated space!

I love a neutral palette for adding in color whenever you feel like, but was really starting to crave a more elegant and personalized dining space.  We use our dining room every day for eating since we do not have an eat in kitchen.  It is located in the central part of our home and can be seen from the kitchen and library.  With the neutral walls, it blended in with the neighboring spaces well but who wants to blend in when you can stand out, right?

The existing space was painted Alabaster by Sherwin Williams and had a chair rail already.  To begin this makeover, I picked a bold blue/ green color called Providence Blue by Benjamin Moore (LINK). Painted above the chair rail, it made a major impact!  I love the richness of the color.  It is one of their colors on their historical line and it suited our color scheme in the adjoining spaces so well. Under the chair rail, I had my contractor add wainscoting boxes.  With these finished, I painted out the boxes and under the chair rail in Alabaster by Sherwin Williams (LINK) which was the color there initially.  Our home is a traditional design and the wainscoting added a traditional element that is characteristic to the architecture.  I opted to not paint the woodwork all one color which is a real trend now, but keeping it white just felt right for our home.

Let's take a look at the new space!

All of the furniture was purchased second hand off of Facebook Marketplace except for the table (Similar, LINK), gray Dayna chairs from Ballard Designs, (LINK) and the white slipcovered chairs from IKEA.

Artwork and dishes are also curated from antique stores and thrifting. My Claire Chandelier from Ballard Designs (LINK) has always been a stand out in either space. Playing off the chandelier, I have added a lot of brass elements in the frames, mirror, and candlesticks.

Wow!!! I love this so very much! Our dining room is also a very traditional style, abd our home is over 100 years old, and right now the dining room is painted white. The room faces east and feels a bit sad by afternoon. I’ve been considering Wythe Blue for the room, but haven’t yet gotten the courage to do it. You have totally inspired me. Thinking I may get the paint today! Thanks for sharing your gorgeous and inspiring dining room!! 😍
