DIY wax fire starters are a thoughtful and practical gift, perfect for the holiday season or as a unique hostess present. They are easy to make, look beautiful, and add a lovely scent to your home when used in a wood-burning fireplace.
A few years ago, I made Merry & Bright Pinecone Fire Starters, which were a huge hit. This time, I am making a slightly different version using muffin liners instead of pinecones. The great thing about this method is that you can add herbs and spices to create a wonderful aroma when the fire starters burn.
These wax fire starters are not only functional but also a beautiful addition to any fireplace setup.
To make these DIY wax fire starters, you will need:
For this batch, I used cinnamon sticks, cloves, and rosemary. However, you can get creative with your ingredients. Lavender, dried orange peels, or a few drops of essential oil would also make a wonderful addition.
When working with wax, it is best to use a dedicated candle-making pot or an old pan that you do not mind getting wax residue on. Once wax hardens, it is difficult to clean, so avoid using your good cookware for this project.
These fire starters are a simple yet thoughtful gift idea, especially when packaged in a decorative box or tied with twine. They make lighting a fire quick and easy while filling the room with a warm, inviting scent.

These look good enough to eat!
I know! My son went to grab one of the counter and I had to disappoint him and say “Sorry bud!” 🙂
