Sliding Barn Doors

One of my very favorite design projects in our home was the addition of a sliding barn door.  When we renovated our basement last summer, I really wanted to add some special touches so it felt more a part of our home and not just a “basement.”

I had been following my fav, Joanna Gaines, from Fixer Upper on HGTV, awhile and she uses sliding barn doors in a lot of her design remodels. Isn't she the best?? Her style is spot on and I would die to have her come and redo my home.  Her inspiration, has molded my design view.  Though I don't realistically see myself moving to Waco, TX any time soon, I have slowly been adding some of her design touches throughout my own home.

We did not have access to an old barn door, so I showed a picture of what I wanted and it was easily replicated from our contractor.  If you have any wood working skills at all, then this would be a great DIY project.

Hardware for the tracking can be purchased through Rustica Hardware or a tractor & feed supply store.  Since the tractor & supply store was a cheaper option, we purchased it and spray painted it black.

There are so many uses for these throughout your home.  We used ours as a way to conceal our laundry room from our living space.

Here are some other favorite ones I have found across the web.

Joanna Gaines shows us that we can even use sliding barn doors as shutters over interior windows as seen below.

And one last photo, another use is on the exterior to conceal a grill area.

So many different uses!

Did I get your mind spinning?  Where are you going to put one in your home?

To life feeling like home!

I keep seeing a Bipass track being used for Barn door hardware for a Single Door. Where can I purchase this? Who is the Manufacturer?

  2. Great Share!

Its really a good way to save space and the best part of sliding doors is that it costs less amount and give a pleasant look to your home and surroundings.

Keep sharing such amazing stuff! I would surely look forward!

I never considered going to the tractor supply store to find hardware for these barn doors. I actually like that you didn’t use the doors on anything that needed privacy too. We have one of these doors and it has been in the office of our home and it is a distraction. We love the look but just as an added caution when selecting these doors, (use them where privacy and sound isn’t a necessity). Love your photos and your post. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you, Linda! Yes. We are in love with our doors. I can see what you mean about the sound. It definitely would not be a sound proof solution. Glad you stopped by!
