Do you ever get tired of the question, “What's for Dinner?”
Well I definitely do, and I also feel I get in the rut of serving the same meals over and over again.
I have been curious for a while about the home delivery meal services that have been popping up all over the place. I was introduced to Blue Apron by a friend. She was kind enough to give me 3 free meals as an introduction. I thought I'd check it out this month as one of my January goals.
Here is a link to the website for more information about the service.
I filled out the profile online with our families likes and dislikes and happily waited for my first arrival.
I was really impressed with how it was all packed and maintained fresh inside the box.
Each individual item needed for the recipe is labeled and packaged separately. Giving you exactly the amount needed to prep and making it easy to figure out what's needed for each meal.
In addition, individual meal cards are sent with recipe and preparation photos to help in following and completing each meal.
Here are the 3 meals I was delivered.
There was prep needed for each meal which took a little time, but it was mostly chopping.
Each meal made 2 servings, but we found that there truly was enough for our family of 5 since we have some small eaters. They do offer a family plan for those needing more portions.
Here are the pictures of two of the completed meals.
Mexican Style “Rice” & Beef Casserole
Whole Wheat Linguine
The meals were good and even my picky family seemed to enjoy them. I was surprised that the cost was reasonable and we had enough to eat.
What I really liked about the service was the convenience and the healthy, fresh ingredients.
I also loved the fact that it forced me to try out some new recipes and the question of “What's for dinner?” was answered for me.
So fun – glad you enjoyed it – hope you do it again!
