Thrift Store Pink Painted Dresser

A thrift store dresser gets a makeover in romantic pink paint!

AHHHH!  Pink, pink, pink.  I have a very recent obsession with this beautiful blushy color.  It’s creeping its way into my home decor all through the house.  When I found this little dresser at the thrift store, I could just picture it dressed up in pink paint, so I grabbed a brush and went to town.  If you saw my green painted dresser (LINK), you know I have no problem painting wood furniture.  It’s an easy and cheap way to update your home decor and add a pop of color to your space.

In our large family room space, our couches float in the center of the room which is cool until you sit down and the couch starts floating over to the corner.  Having a piece of furniture behind it not only anchors the piece from scooting around but helps fill up our space.

I really wanted a pink that wasn’t cotton candy pastel pink, more subdued and natural.  I chose Antoinette from Annie Sloan, (LINK). I can’t believe I’m saying this, but with all the paint I’ve used, I have never used Annie Sloan.  It’s a chalk paint which is my favorite type of paint because you do not have to prime!  It’s full coverage, dries quickly, and with two coats of paint, boom, you are done!  

Once painted, I added a dark wax over the entire piece making sure to get around the edges and cracks.  I buffed it off and it gave it dimension and toned down the color to a subdued blushy pink. What do you think?

The flowers are from a local farm in Cincinnati called Turner Farms.  I am part of their flower co-op which means I get to go and pick up to 250 stems a season for just $50!  They also have a small farmers market area with homegrown veggies and farm raised beef. The bunny knobs I got on Amazon (LINK) and the crystal and antique brass knobs I purchased from Hobby Lobby (LINK).  I just couldn't resist the bunny ones.  I love the whimsy they add to the piece!
