Green Painted Dresser for a Brand New Look

All it takes is a little paint to transform a ho-hum piece into a stunner!

Take this pretty green painted dresser.  You would never believe how it went from just an average wood dresser to a beautifully sophisticated piece that is a showpiece in my home!  I am definitely a wood lover, but sometimes painted pieces just win me over!  Today, I've joined with our Back to Basics team organized by 2 Bees in a Pod and The Crowned Goat to show you just how simple it is to paint a piece of furniture and transform it in just a few hours of your time.

I tend to be what I would call an impatient painter.  That means I want the results right away with very little work.  Anyone else with me?  Well, thankfully there are paints out there that require so little prep and basically do all the hard work for you!  Yep.  That's definitely the kind of DIY project I enjoy!

One of my favorite paint lines is Amy Howard's One Step Paint line.  (This is not a sponsored post, but I'm just sharing what I love!)  It is one of the easiest paints I have ever worked with.  I actually used this exact green paint on another piece in my home.  You can see my Pretty Green Table, HERE. The key to this paint is that it goes on thick, spreads well for full coverage and goes a long way.  I had so much left over from my last project, that I used it again for this dresser.  Plus, it is just the perfect shade of green called Cherbourg. This paint dries flat with a chalky finish which is what I love.

I forgot to take a picture of the dresser right after I got it.  I purchased this from an online auction site for very little money.  It is a solid piece of wood and should last a long time! No prep is needed when using the One Step Paint. I simply washed down the piece to get the dirt and grime off of it.  Two coats and it was good to go!  Brand new glass knobs from Hobby Lobby were the perfect touch.  The glass and gold fit in so nicely with the new vintage inspired crystal doorknobs in our home.

The dresser is BEAUTIFUL!! How much paint did it take to cover it? The sample it shows when you go to their website looks really dark, not like on your piece, is that for sure the same color? Did you buy the quart or 8 oz?

    • Amy says:

Hi, Mary! I used one full 8oz jar for the dresser. The color dries lighter than the image. This is the second piece I painted with Cherbourg and I absolutely love it!

  8. BonBon says:
