Today is the first week in a new home decor challenge I am participating in called the $100 room challenge!
Hello! If you’re new here, welcome to White Cottage Home & Living! I am so excited to be participating in the $100 Room Challenge, created by Erin from Lemon’s, Lavender, and Laundry. This challenge happens twice a year, January and September. A group of home decor bloggers are challenged to makeover a space in their home, using a budget of just $100. You can read more about it over on Erin’s site (LINK). I’ve actually been wanting to participate in this challenge for year’s but have never gotten my act together soon enough to get on board, but this time, I am ready!
So what space will I be making over for just $100?
My Entryway
Let’s get a look at the before and then I’ll share my exciting plans for this space!
BEFORE

As you can see, it’s a small space with three doorways leading to other spaces. I have tried many attempts at creating a functional and stylish space, but it feels disjointed and just not as welcoming as I want it to be.
GOALS
#1 Add more functional elements; hooks for guests to hang their coats, purses or a chair to take shoes on/ off.
#2 New rug to anchor the space
#3 Artwork and new decor
#4 Wall treatment of some kind to differentiate this space from the surrounding area.
I can’t wait to get started on this space! I will be posting updates once a week so, I hope you’ll join me in following along!
Make sure to visit the other participants in this challenge, below!

If you like the sort of recommendation that still holds up six months later, leave your email below and I'll write to you on Sunday.
Most Sundays, once the house has gone quiet and it's edging towards nine, a letter goes out. It's the one I'd write to a friend with good taste and not nearly enough time: one thing worth reading, one thing worth buying, and one thing to skip. No noise, no pressure to spend, just the considered version of what I've actually been using, loving, or quietly sending back.

YAY!!! Welcome to the $100 Room Challenge! I am so excited to have you joining in this round! I cannot wait to see how you transform this entry. (Also, I feel pretty confident we had that EXACT same curio cabinet at one point… only it was cherry wood.) Good luck!

Amy I love your goals for your room. I am also doing our entryway, with almost the same goal as yours. How fun is this to share our entry ways on this challenge.
